beyond the other legal ramifications, i.e, the wts lying about secular info., intentional deception, etc., the blood issue is a huge one.

That's what I'm hoping aposta kate ... that those who've left that were damaged by this policy will take the Watchtower to court.Those on the board that are saying the dubs won't sue, this is not only about those that are still in but those of us who've opened our eyes and seen the organization for what it really is and want them to account for the damage their teachings and practices have caused. It's also about the non-believing family members who've lost loved ones as a result of this f'd up blood doctrie (so-called).

The Grasshopper 'IN' The Shoe Box

i came across this story and it had to do with people who yell, scream and bitch about everything in life, and they can't and don't 'do' anything about it.

this fisherman (dave)picked up a newly fisherman (paul)in his community one early morning, and on route to their destination, which was some distance, paul noticed a shoe box on the front seat.

he also heard lots of noises in the shoe box.

I used to feel this way too golf, but like nilfin, I've learned that forgiveness doesn't always bring peace. I have to accept my true feelings and deal with them. Forcing down feelings of legitimate anger and resentment aren't healthy for me.

For example, I tried, tried and tried to forgive my ex for ignoring our children and hurting them in his stupid attempt to hurt me ... it wasn't until I exploded on him and told him how I really feel about his behavior that I could stop b****ing about him to my friends every chance I got. Now when I think about him it's like ... nothing ... no need to rant. I'm done. I don't even feel the anger and hatred (whatever that is) I felt before.

But not everyone deals with things the same way. That's why everyday I try to find solutions that work for me. I can only live MY life and I want to live it to the fullest. That's why I hopped my happy a** out that JW box .

I remember a CO giving a part at a program a few years back where he said that 'the worst JW was better than the best worldly person.'

Yeah ... I heard that one too elightenedchick, they sure believe they are the S**T don't they?!? . It almost hurts to think back on all the stupid things I used to hear and accept ...not everything went down easily but for a chance of life in par-o-dice I chocked down a whole load of BS . What 'loving' person speaks of others that way?

I'll bet every dub knows 3 or 4 people who've died or nearly died as a result of not accepting blood. That's a LOT of people! And the faithful STILL adhere to it anyhow. And why? FEAR, fear of eternal death. And what loving elders to stand by and make absolutely sure you don't get anything ~~Jehovah~~ the GB says you can't have.

I have to add another sister to my list of four - Sister in her late thirties with 6 children died after she was diagnosed with some type of cancer. She was given massive doses of chemo, went into some sort of shock, refused blood and died ... shit, then there was another sister, mid fifties, 5-6 children mostly grown, I forget what was wrong with her but she took ill, stood fast and died in the hospital. Both sisters were irregular/innactive. But you'd better believe the elders never left their bedside! Now - that's 6 people I know personally who died as a result of those control freaks, self-appointed gods in Brooklyn and their cohorts in the congregations.

I hope there is a class action suit and that it rips the Watchtower Corporation a whole new A** H**E.

"Special Talk" being given next week about blood

i just got back from the meeting minutes ago.

we had an announcement at the kh this evening that there will be a special talk next service meeting entitled "obeissons au commandement divin de nous abstenir du sang"... which means "let us obey the divin commandment to abstain from blood"

i asked the presiding overseer why the blood talk was being given so early, and not in line with the kingdom ministry schedule.

The part that gets me is this (from the KM instructions for the part): "In conclusion, encourage parents to review that entire article in The Watchtower and to follow through immediately by having discussions and practice sessions with their children about the Bible-based command regarding blood, equipping them to express their beliefs with conviction. Family heads should be sure that each baptized child is carrying a DPA card and that each unbaptized child is carrying an Identity Card."

It makes me sick.

I think the point of the 'rehearsal' is to inforce/reinforce cognitive dissonance on the adult R&F - most of the children really don't buy the bs anyway. Just the thought of having to take a stand on the blood issue made my head spin ... Even though I would hope to have the strength to be faithful to ~~the GB~~ Jehovah, my heart/mind/whatever would wander into the courtroom where a judge would take away my parental rights forcing the transfusion (push back that feeling of relief and euphoria-must obey) ... then I'd go back to the imaginary hospital room and run away with my sick child ... then be in the car wondering what the hell I was going to do when my child died (there is no if, death is immenent and one must be faithful to the end) ... then I'd probably be arrested, but being in jail would be nothing compared to not having my baby ... that's all that mattered in the end ... then I'd go back to the beginning if I my mind could withstand the exercise again, or just put it away and hope I'd never have to make any of those decisions. What terror to put into the heart of a parent. Such a loving organzation, what a loving god they worship . Stupid cult. I hope they choke on their blood doctrine and bleed money like they've never imagined.

Sanctuary Trauma

" it hit me in kind of a big(-ish) way...being hurt by those who should be protecting or nurturing us is a betrayal of sanctuary.

the trauma experienced is called sanctuary trauma.

I love this topic! I tell myself and my children all the time that our home is our sanctuary - and for that reason, NO ONE is permitted to disturb our sanctuary without dealing with ME! IOW, no teacher will make me angry with my child to the point that I berate him/her as an individual, no child will be allowed to chide their sibling within my earshot - yes, there's enough room for them to be kids but not to be cruel, finally, no man, woman or child can raise their voice to ME in MY F'n house! I've had to say this to visitors a few times and they always pipe right down out of proper respect.

Outside we have to face the world on it's terms, at school, at work, engaging in business etc. No matter what goes on outside, when we come home we should feel safe, secure, loved, protected, cared for, supported - all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Cause if you can't find that at home you're liable to go looking for it elsewhere.

As for the dubs, they violated the most private sanctuary of all - my inner thoughs, my beliefs, motives, goals, hopes and dreams and took them over leaving their lies and fairy tales in their place. After recovering from the cult mentality I would never allow anyone to do that to me again. I fight that every day. I'm determined to be true to my own values and my own beliefs.

I understand where you're coming from cyberdyne. You make a good point about the lack of communication too though - the looks, burying ones feelings until they just burt through in public - like me and your wife crying at the KH. If you can't be honest with someone about how they make you feel how do you grow a real relationship? Just like most things with the witnesses - it's all just a big put-on. There is no wizard. If there is he's a goof!

Unfortunately it doesn't match with common sense and experience. By your model, each one of us here should know a Witness personally who has died from refusing blood. That is obviously not the case. Take a poll and you will find that only a handful have personal experience of knowing someone or having a relation die from refusing blood.

I'll take you up on your poll suggestion Osiris. I know of four witnesses who died as a result of the Watchtower’s no blood and organ donor policies. One was a minor, the second in her early twenties, a man in his late forties and one in his sixties. All tragedies regardless.

I say above that it doesn't match with common sense because even Jehovah's Witnesses would refuse to obey the blood doctrine if they were losing that many members a year. Because many of those personally touched by such a tragedy recognize the error in the doctrine a loss of a thousand or more a year would have such a massive fall-out in membership that it would be immediately obvious.

The common sense analogy falls flat on it’s face, I’m sorry. But that’s just not true. How many people do you know that are seriously ill or have sustained a life threatening injury – sure it happens every day but not to everybody. And JW congregations are small and scattered all over the place so what chance is there of mass casualties due to the no-blood doctrine? Besides, when I was in the cult I threw my common sense away so I could survive Armageddon and live in paradise. Common sense should tell most witnesses that shunning your family is wrong, stupid, unloving and uncaring ... yet they do it, don't they? Most people with common sense wouldn’t join the dubs in the first place.

My mother told me I couldn't sit next to her anymore because people would think we were lesbians. WTF?!?

jamelle - funny how many witnesses mistake affection for sex. I love anyone who loves my children and anyone who disrepects them is put on the s**t list pronto!

Well, don't y'all know, JW's have the "secret" love...that "AGAPE", love ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Delilah - that is so, so true - their brand of love is something special. Like my mother used to say "if that's what you call love than I don't want me none."

AK - I can relate - when a sister and brother's 'rented' home caught fire the most the cong. did was take up a collection so they could have their meeting clothes dry cleaned I kid you not. When my rental home burned down I was offered so much stuff I had to start turning some of it down it was overwhelmingly loving. My family never experienced anything like it in the borg - NEVER. Their loving father won't even return their phone calls - ah ... the reds made me feel better.

I remember being so depressed that I just burst into tears after the meeting. Some of the sisters came around to console me but I wouldn't tell them what was wrong. I think you may have touched on it Merry - I was so confused within myself that I couldn't even understand why I felt this overwhelming sadness. This happened a few years before I left. When I got tired of towing the party line (study, meetings, FS - repeat; study, meetings, FS repeat indefinately/eternally) I started speaking more freely or more accurately, I started to let my OWN personality come thru with my two closest friends, then with the sisters who hung out in the rest-room on baby-duty and actually started being invited out more. That's about the time I realized that most of the 'friends' were doing things I wouldn't dare do ... and amazingly I stopped judging them. I wondered what was so wrong with going out and having a good time? More important, WHY WASN'T I DOING IT! O

Oh my GAWD - Bad association actually DOES spoil ~~useless~~ useful habits
